VTX Cover Attachment Instructions

VTX Front Covers

  1. Begin by loosening and removing one bolt from the six-bolt rotor configuration on your wheel, which will enable you to detach the wheel with greater ease.
  2. Carefully extract the axle from the wheel assembly, ensuring that you maintain a clean and organised workspace to avoid losing any components.
  3. Gently remove the wheel from your trike, taking care to handle it by the tire to prevent any damage to the spokes or rim.
  4. Proceed to detach the rotor. It‘s important to note the orientation of the rotor before removal; the directional arrow on it should point in the same direction as the wheel‘s rotation during operation.
  5. Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure to ensure that the VTX cover sits properly and the wheel maintains its shape.
  6. Position the aero disc with the cutout over the rotor mount, aligning the Streamline logo with the tire logo if desired. Secure the aero disc to the spokes using Velcro strips or electrical tape for a snug fit.
  7. Reattach the rotor onto the wheel‘s mounting point, leaving out the sixth screw. This will be inserted and tightened after the wheel is back on the trike.
  8. Reinstall the wheel onto the trike, ensuring that it is correctly aligned and the rotor does not interfere with the trike‘s frame or braking system.
  9. Insert and tighten the final sixth rotor screw. Proceed to apply an even torque of 6.2 Nm to all six screws, following a star pattern (1, 3, 5, 2, 4, 6) to ensure balanced pressure distribution.
  10. Attach the outer aero disc to the wheel, using the provided shorter screws to connect it to the inner disc. Double-check that both discs are perfectly centered and that the inner disc does not make contact with any brake components.
  11. Test the brake function by operating the brake lever a few times to ensure that the wheel spins freely and that there is no contact between the wheel, the disc rotors, and the cover with any part of the braking system. Repeat the process for the other wheel to confirm proper installation.

VTX Rear Cover

  1. Carefully remove the axle from the rear wheel assembly. Keep track of all parts and maintain a tidy workspace to prevent any loss of components.
  2. Take the rear wheel off the trike, handling it by the tire to avoid damaging the spokes or rim.
  3. Unscrew and set aside the rotor, remembering its original orientation. The directional arrow on the rotor should align with the rotational direction of the wheel when in use. You will also need to remove the cassette at this time.
  4. Ensure the tire is inflated to the recommended pressure. This guarantees a proper fit for the VTX cover and maintains the structural integrity of the wheel.
  5. Align the aero disc with the cutout over the rotor mount on the rear wheel. If you want a consistent look, you can line up the Streamline logo with the tire logo. Use Velcro strips or electrical tape to fix the aero disc to the wheel‘s spokes.
  6. Mount the outer aero disc to the rear wheel by securing it to the inner disc using the provided shorter screws. Make sure both discs are perfectly centered and that the inner disc is not in contact with the brake components.
  7. Then, apply a consistent torque of 6.2 Nm to all eight attachment bolts in a star pattern for even pressure distribution. The recommended order is 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, 4, 6, 8.
  8. Reattach the rotor to the wheel, using the mounting system provided on your rear wheel. Fit and tighten on the cassette.
  9. Place the rear wheel back onto the trike, ensuring proper alignment and avoiding any interference with the frame or braking system.
  10. Perform a brake test by engaging the brake lever multiple times. This is to ensure that the wheel spins freely without any contact between the wheel, disc rotors, or cover and any part of the brake assembly.
